The text of the condolence message of Ayatollah Arafi, the head of the Iranian seminaries, is as follows:
In the name of Allah, the Merciful
The passing away of the pious jurist and noble scholar Grand Ayatollah Haj Sheikh Abbas Mahfouzi, became a source of sorrow and pain in seminaries. In addition to his academic degrees in Qom and Najaf seminaries, and the understanding of the great leaders and professors of the seminary and the Late Imam Khomeini, as well as the training of many students and the publication of valuable works, he had records and spiritual positions and outstanding moral virtues. His special relationship with the late Grand Ayatollah Behjat and his practical life goes to prove his seminary status.
That honorable man was diligent in the social fields and serving the people, and in the field of the movement of the Imam Khomeini (RA), the Islamic Revolution and the struggles with the oppressive regime and bearing the sufferings in this path, his sacrifices were evident since he was present in various religious, cultural and political positions of the Islamic system. The Late Ayatollah was active in the struggle against the tyrannical regime, and now the seminary and his students have been deprived of the grace of his presence.
I extend my condolences to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the seminaries, the professors of Qom Seminary, his students, the honorable people of Gilan Province. I ask the Almighty God for the eternal divine satisfaction for that honorable teacher, and patience and divine reward for the honorable survivors.
